Robyn Hamilton Becker I’ve come to ceramics as a mature aged student and studied on a part time basis.
Still finding my way as an artist in ceramics, I create forms that I don’t fully understand, but which satisfy a subconscious need for expression.
Most of the pieces I create are sculptural; all are experimental. Some are prompted by my interest in particular forms found in nature, others seem more subliminal. It is exciting when these forms take on a life of their own through my interpretation and experimentation with clay bodies, glazes and methodologies.
I’m driven by my need to develop a personal creative language, to express this in clay and with a little luck and grace, further my understanding of life.
