Jill Bygott

My interest in pottery began in 1973 when I attended a hobby class. Over the years I learned and absorbed through workshops and a great deal of trail and error. In 1991 I completed a 2 year Diploma course at O.E.C.T.

I have always found the making of forms totally absorbing, wether is is on the whell, or the more gentle process of handbuilding.

When making my large pots I combine both handbuilding and the wheel using the coil and throw technique. I use stoneware clay which fires up to 1300 c. This makes them vitreous and able to withstand all the elements.
