Jane Annois

My raku pieces use terra sigillata for their warmth and richness of colour. The raku process is always stimulating, ever providing new possibilities for surface effects and combination of texture and colour. Most pieces are thrown but many have handbuilt components. It is the elusive control of the elements, earth, air and fire, which challenges and fascinates me.

The terre vernissee, or terracotta tableware, derives its inspiration from the tableware in France that uses these clay and glaze combinations. Having spent time in the potteries of France, I now wish to bring the honey, olive green and blues of Provence to Australian tables.
